In the winter of 2007 at his home, in a small castle, author H.Dirk Macgrieve sits in his study. His attention is drawn by the crackle of the fireplace; the warmth of the hearth takes the chill out of the cool night air. Dirk’s thoughts take him to a tale of four clans that have lived in conflict for nearly six centuries. Turning his head, his eyes gaze out the nearby window, the light of a new full moon shines, allowing him to see the mirror calm waters of the loch just past the moor, beyond the back of his Scottish castle. Not one of the bigger castles, but one that his father restored for his family, he was the oldest of two children the eldest male child, along with his younger sister. Dirk was raised in a family where all was no less about the very clan he had been born in, and this is where this tale begins.
